Best place to buy trailer wire

I am going to rewire three trailers for my father in law for Christmas. I would like to buy 100 feet of the 7 wire cable. I think it is (6) 12 ga. wires and (1) 10 guage. I guess the 6- wire would work as well. Anyway, the places I have found want over $1.50 per foot for the wire. I would think there would be somewhere on the internet that would sell it alot cheaper. Where is the cheapest place to buy trailer wire?

I have wired alot of trailers using 3-wire extension cords and grounding through the trailer and ball. Any reason this would not work and just run a seperate 2 wire (power and ground) line for the brakes? It would not be nearly as clean...but it would be WAAAAAAAY cheaper.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Jay

Re: Best place to buy trailer wire

I've used these folks for a couple of things, their prices are pretty good.

I used their pre-made "pigtails", and put a junction box on the trailer frame. Then I used 12 & 14 gauge automotive wire and cable-ties to connect to all the devices.

Look here

Waytek has about the best prices and policies for small quantities that I have ever found. Still expensive but not $1.50 at least. I use them extensively for commercial automotive wiring supplies.
