Ok, so I am looking for opinions based upon actualy tire usage. I am using my '03 F250 crew cab to pull my 36' 5er. All loaded up the pin wt is about 2500 lbs. The total GCW is right on 20,000 lbs. I put on new Dunlop Radial Rover AT tires about 8,000 miles ago. The fronts are like brand new and the rears are running down toward the wear bars already. I know this is a fact of life when pulling heavy with a SRW.
I am wondering though, does anyone have suggested tires that last longer than this? I have been running the tires at 80 PSI which may be too much, although the tires seem to have even wear, just lots of it.
Would a highway rib be better? What about other brands?
Thanks!

My pin weight and GCW are identical to yours. Although not a favorite here at TDS my Firestone Steeltex AT's have served me fairly well. I replaced one original pair at 40K (approx 14K towing 5'ver) and the second pair at 58K (approx 23K towing 5'ver). Had I been more diligent with rotation I'm sure my wear would have been more even between the pairs...but I just keep the deeper treads on the rear in the winter and on the front otherwise. 55psi front and 80psi rear when towing... 50/60 when solo/empty. No negative performance issues to date...knock wood.
8K and wear indicators evident??? Might TRY exercising the treadwear warranty.
If I didn't live and drive in snow country...I'd be riding on E rated highway treads for sure. Wish I could afford a set of BOTH!!!
A tire you might want to consider is the B F Goodrich Commercial TA. I had them on my 99 SRW F350 towing 23,000lbs GCW. They are a highway rib with a fairly soft, smooth riding compound. They have an E load rating and are one of the few LT tires with a 50,000 mile tread wear gaurantee. The current Costco price is $125.00 including road hazard.

I just put them on my TT. Discount Tire had em for about $103 that included lifetime rotation and balance and road hazard.
Try usin Yokohoma tires, they are very exspensive but they haul aload very well and they wear great. If I were you I would get the 12 ply tire. I had a set once on my chevy and I pulled a 20 foot goose neck and I got 50,000 good miles out of them. That is what I would go with, you may have trouble getting hold of them only a few dealers have them.
Had a set of bfg commercial t/a's on the 6 horse about 4 years ago. They lasted 18 months before they started to weather check and about 22 months they just looked to unsafe to run. Personally I run Michelin mud and snows on everything truck we own with 16" rim and XPS rib tires on any trailer that takes a 16" tire.

I've had good luck with Pro-Comp A/Ts. Run 50lbs and have gotten great wear. Been on for more than 2 yrs/26,000 miles. Still have a long way to go till I hit the wear bars. Great riding tire that really goes well in bad weather.
Thank you guys for all the input. I guess it looks like the highway-rib tires are better for life when towing than the AT tires. I will look into something other than the Dunlops that I purchased.
Thanks!

On my '99 I use Toyo AT's, that truck is used exclusively to haul our 34' triple axle GN, and the tires last 27K every time, which means the replacement set costs about half. (50K warranty). I tried a set of BFG AT's once, they went 11K and were shot.
