I was able to maintain 65mph and did not try to go over 70mph. The total weight was somewhere between 40k and 45k. I had no proplem with handling the load nor did I have a problem stoping.

Just curious, how do you figure the weight?
I was thinking, 15K for the truck and trailer.
Those look like 4 x 5 bales, so maybe 800 lbs x 26= 20,800
total= 35,800lbs
But, how did you figure?
I thought those bales looked closer to 1K. There are 26 bales there right? That is close to 26K just in load! Nice.
Most we ever did with our y2k was 33K. GA to CT. Had some things to fix after that.

UPDATED 8/1/08 Replace so far. 1 LUK flywheel+clutch, 2 thermostats, 2 set of brakes, 1 set of calipers, 5 CPS, 3 sets of tires, 2 Transfer pumps, 1 Injector modual, 1 Computer, 2 Alt, 2 sets of batteries, 1 Water pump, 6 Belts, 1 PS hose, 2 Sets ball joints, 2 set u-joints, 2 carrier bearing, 2 Speed sensors, 1 oil pres sender, 1 temp sender, 4 sets of e-break cables, 1 front fuel tank, 2 rear fuel tanks, 2 set of glow plugs, 6 Glow plug relays, Oil galley o-rings, Turbo pedistal o-rings, EBPV o-rings, 3 sets of Injector O-rings, 1 Vac-pump, 1 new carpet.Total $$$ in repairs v/s miles driven = 3.0 cents per mile. Add fuel to that it jumps to 14.8 cents per mile over the life of the truck.
These rolls weigh between 1000# and 1200#. I figured this load at 1000 pounds each at a min.
25 bales x 1000 each = 25k
Truck = 8k
Trailer = 8k
Total = 41k

first off,i would like to say thanks for the hay.some texan is lucky to be getting it.texas got hit with the drought real hard this year,and being the second year in a row,it only made matters worse.i only yielded about 1/3 the normal this year,went down to natchitoches,La to buy the bulk of the remaining hay i needed.if not for all the hay coming from our louisianna/ark neighbors,i shudder to think how bad things could have gotten.i can remember at least one ocassion where ranchers to the south of me actually shot off livestock,due to a major drought.i have hauled many a load like that,and even heavier behind a 3/4,crossed my fingers every time i did it too! always swore when times got better,i was gonna get more truck to do the job,they did and i did. on a side note,still seeing lots of hay coming from the south and the north..
