Blinker Relay upgrade??

Does anyone know if the blinker relay needs to be upgraded when hooking up a trailer? Blinkers will blink to fast in my old pick-up I rememder putting a heavy duty relay in. Thanks Mark

If You have the Towing pkg I think You get the HD flasher from the factory. Signalstat 525 is the correct # if I rmember right. There's actually two in the fuse panel, one for turn signals and another for 4-way flashers. At least on the OBS (old body style) trucks.

Napa stocks them, plus they're louder than stock which is handy. There's a few different choices of HD types, but any will cure your problem. My first one lasted 13 years and over 200,000 miles, that's a lot of blinking. It was clear plastic and actually had a tiny rotating "motor" so regardless of load the blink speed never changed. We used a lot of them on road const, etc, equipment type applications.

You don't need a HD flasher. The Super Duties have a Separate Trailer relay block under the hood. The trailer circuit has it's own relay's and fuses. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif[/img]
