brake contrller guru's

I have spent alot of time under my dash and im pretty sure I dont have a plug for a brake controller. Cant i just tap into the wires in the 7 round plug to wire it up. I love working on the truck and kinda picky on who works on it plus I dont want to pay some tool 80.00 to splice in 4 wires. Thanks Karl

I say you have it. It should be right below the ash tray and it is hanging on with a plastic push plug. Here is pic Brake controller plug

Re: brake contrller guru's

Sure you can hard wire it yourself. Just follow the instructions with the controller and it's pretty easy. The pigtail just makes it a plug and play so now you just get to play.

Jim, im sure i don't have that plug under my dash. Did you need to remove the kick plate ( near your knee) to see it?

Re: brake contrller guru's

like excavator said it should be under the ash tray.If you look up under the dash there should be a metal support with a sqaure hole in it. Inside that hole there should be a grey connector and that is the connector you are looking for. Not saying yours is there but that is where most of the others I have hooked up have been.

Do you any of you have an aftermarket manufacturer and part number, or is it better to use a dealer part?

that 6 pin plug is Ford standard, you should be able to pick up a plug at any automotive place,
