brake control in an Econoline

Hey Guys,
I figured since this is a very informed group of users, and this has always been a great resource RE my Superduty, I would ask you guys a question about my van. I want to put in the brake controller from my superduty into my 99 E250. Is there a plug somewhere in the dash as there was on the superdutys to hook it up, or do I have to hardwire all the way back to the hitch. ( That would suck!) I haven't been able to find anything in there, but haven't had a massive amount of time to persue either. Any info would be great, or if there is another source of info you could direct me to that would be helpful as well.

Thanks

Pablo

Re: brake control in an Econoline

I dont know about a plug under the dash area, but if you dont have the tow package harness (wiring and 7 pin connector) at the rear bumper, you will need to run the wires.

I too have an E250 but it only has the 4 pin connector at the rear bumper.

Id check with Ford (perhaps the service dept) about the connector at the dash. This will take care of the source for your controller. The output will be dependent on the answer to the first paragraph. Good luck!

Re: brake control in an Econoline

The brake controller connector on the E Series is behind the parking brake pedal.

Re: brake control in an Econoline

Thanks guys,
Will take a look and see what I come up with. I know my first superduty did not have the rear 7 pin, but it did have the connector under the dash, and had a place for me to tie in at the back with a Ford connector. Was nice as all I had to do was connect the 7 pin back there, and plug it in at the dash. My 02 was even easier, as the 7 pin was already there. Anyway, will see what I find. Thanks.

Thanks for posting back. I sorta picked up on this from others post (plug at dash) but not the 4/7 pin wiring at the bumper from others postings.

Re: brake control in an Econoline

Found the connection under the dash by the e-brake. Thanks. Now all I have to do is find the time to hook it up!
