Re: brake controller ?

I used a Drawtite proportional controller for 3 years without any problems. I just purchased a Prodigy inertia-based controller this week based on it's wide popularity among the towing community. Unfortunately, I just installed it yesterday, and I won't have a chance to use it until later this week. But if you can wait, I'll let you know how I like it when I haul up to LA and back (~300 miles round trip).

Re: brake controller ?

I use the BrakeSmart controller. It is a little bit on the expensive side but if you are going to do any amount of towing it is well worth it. The trailer always stops proportionately no matter what. I have towed close to 20,000 miles with my BrakeSmart in every kind of condition imaginable (everything from sun to high wind to snow and ice). It has payed for itself in the reliability and predictability of how it is going to work when you need it.

Re: brake controller ?

I also have the BrakeSmart controller an I'm very pleased with it. I use the BrakeSmart controller with the hydraulic disc brakes on my trailer. Great combination. Nice smooth braking at any speed.
