Does anybody have a clue as to why my brake controller no longer works.
I unpluged it last year (working fine) and plugged it in this year and it's not working.
All my trailer lights work, turn sigs, brake, running lights everything works but the controller. The light is out (on the controller) and it doesn't brake my trailer. I see no inline fuses on the controller, since the fuses are intergrated in the main fuse box under the hood (replaced them)
I replaced all the fuses, checked the ground (still attached), checked the wiring,(looks fine), and still the controller is dead.
Am I missing something? or is the controller just bad (dead)?

What brand and model brake controller is it? It sounds like a bad connection somewhere. I'd check all the splices under the truck if you made any for the brake controller there. Many times if the wires aren't soldered together there then it's easy to have a bad connection.

Would like to know if you found the problem on this one...as mine isn't working either! Seemed fine all year (at least the light would come on) as I don't unplug mine..and leave it plugged into the truck all year.
Go to use it...and no trailer brakes!
Let us know what you find out!

Now is the time for that BrakeSmart, eh?!! (A good excuse ALWAYS comes in handy with the Mrs.!! )
Lura
1) I checked all the fuses #16 and # 28 and two relay fuses. All located under the hood on the drivers side near master cyl/brake fluid.
The larger fues box has the 16 & 28 fuses and the small one on the side of it has two relay fuses.
I didn't find any burnt fuses but replaced the 16,28 and replay fuses anyway.
As before the trailer lights worked, turn sig, brake light, running lights,,,,but no trailer brakes.
2) I looked at the "Tekonsha" brake controller for an in-line fuse but it has none so I assume the fuses ford supplies are the in-line fuses.
I un-wrapped the black elec. tape on the controller wires and everything was fine. (still nothing)
3) I went to the 5th wheel Pig tail in the bed of my truck and followed it to the splice under my truck and un-wrapped the tape on all the wires and "WA-LA" found a Blue cooper wire that was spliced to the trucks trailer connection (the one on the bumper)that was completely corroded in half.
I cleaned and cut off the bad section of the blues wires (one for the pig-tail, one (cut in two)for the trucks OEM wire and re-spliced them together and everything works again.
4) What I found while doing this!...wires will get water on them and corrode under the truck if not tape extremely well.
Thx all for the help and direction, and it was nothing more than a corroded wire and bad connection.
