Can I safely pull it?

I have a 1990 F-250 7.3 E4OD with 3:55 rears and I am looking at a Outback 5th wheel trailer and it shows on the trailer sticker that the trailer is built to 10,200 GVWR. Will I be able to tow that 5er with this truck?

Re: Can I safely pull it?

What is the sum of the weight ratings of both of your rear tires minus the weight of your rear axle with a full tank of gas?

For example:

2500 lb tire x 2 = 5000 lbs. Put rear tires on scale, obtain weight of lets say 2600 lbs. 5000 - 2600 = 2400 lbs. That is the amount of weight you can have for your hitch weight of the fiver.

Yes you will exceed you GVWR, but that is not legally enfoceable, so who cares? I would not go way over it, just use good judgement. You are not going to void your warranty. The only thing the vehicle code says (at least in my state) is you CANNOT exceed your tire capacity.

The rest of the drivetrain, suspension, shocks, well that is your call.

So, what is the pin weight of that fiver?

Re: Can I safely pull it?

yes you can. your e4od is not going to like the hills or the high winds with those 3.55, but you will be ok.
