If it is a dual tandem goose then it is prob. rated at 20,000.

I agree, it's probably got two 10K axles but they may even be 12k's. The biggest factors are the braking system and the drivers ability to control the load. The truck will pull it juuuuust fine and as for all this keeping it under 50 mph.....sounds like a bunch of old ladies on here....... pretty much in agreement with everyone else. you can do it, your not going very far, stay off highway if you can, and use your head. make sure the brakes on the trailer are working. one quick test is when its empty, set your brake box high, and see if it will lockem up or at least drag you to a quick stop, if so then you should be ok. now set it back to normal for when you are towing empty.
i have towed 22k with my truck, with a similar trailer, just not a dump. the key here is the trailer, if its in good working order, and loaded correctly, you can do it. but you won't be legal.

If he has lot of experience and knows the trailer, I would agree, run as fast as he wants. However, looking at all of the other post, I'd say he'd be better off taking it slow especially if every tire except the two on the front of the truck is going to be overloaded.

Your biggest problem is not towing or stopping. What is the trailer made to dump. If it is to heavy you will be doing a lot of shoveling. one ton is 2000 lbs. what is the hydrolic rated for.
