Be careful out there

It's summer time and all rules go out the window for some folks.
I was sitting at the light and this guy came skidding down the hill. I snapped this pic just as the light turned green Knuckle head

Re: Be careful out there

What about the third car in the line? Almost looks like the second car is towing the third, its so close. Looks like it could've been 3 sets of britches needing to be changed, instead of one.

Re: Be careful out there

You should see the stuff I see being pulled on I-40 every day. The USA has laws regarding what is safe to tow unlike other countries. Where is a NCHP when you need them?

Re: Be careful out there

That is sad. I saw just yesterday a new GMC Yukon on a bridge with a single axle utility trailer LOADED! With sod... the weight was way to far in front of the axle on the trailer and I am almost sure it started to duck walk when they got up to speed and didn't know what to do.. so they smacked the guard rail and another car, and ended up pointed in the wrong direction with some major damage to the Yukon..it was a mess...just makes me glad I am in a 9100lb truck most of the time..LOL!! I wish I would have had my camera..

Re: Be careful out there

Heh, reminds me of the S-10 Blazer I saw towing what was about a 20' enclosed trailer. The trailer was twice as big as the S-10. There's no way he could see anything behind or to the side of the trailer. I sure hope the trailer had brakes on it!

Re: Be careful out there

Was getting tires put on my work truck this morning when a guy came in *****ing that the new air shocks the garage had put on his Ford Ranger weren't working correctly. Seems one had collapsed and cut his emergency brake cable. I look outside and he's pulling a 20' tag along camper with this thing ... the camper was easily twice as long as the truck, if not more. The camper had the rear end of that little truck almost dragging the ground (and the truck was, of course, loaded down with all the other camping supplies like coolers full of ice and drinks, etc etc). This guy was about to get on the road to Florida (I live in South Carolina), manager said he wouldn't fix the damage, and if the guy got on the road with that rig he'd call the local and state cops to have him pulled over.

Bet ya anything the muffin head pulling the trailer has no brake lights. The second car had to hit brakes hard once he realized the trailer was stopping, and the 3rd car just barely got stopped. The guy pulling that rig probably "almost" caused 10 diff wrecks that day, and has absolutely no idea.

Re: Be careful out there

This one was probably going waaaaay to fast and forgot she was hauling a trailer. Doesn't surprise me that it happened on the LIE.

Re: Be careful out there

I happened upon a man towing a 24' travel trailer with a VW RABBIT!!!! I almost fainted when I saw him. I pulled him over (sorry that's what I do for a living) and had a chat with him. He told me (as God is my witness) it's OK Officer, it's a diesel, it can handle it. Umm,, ah, err, well uhh, sir,, uhh,, ahh... Poor guy just didn't get it,, soooooo, I walked to the front of his car, pulled up on the front bumper, and after a couple of bounces, I picked the front tires off of the ground. Yes, I wrote him a citation and put him out of service,, I know, I know, mean ol' motor cop. I keep a couple of Polaroids of that experience for old times sake.

On a side note, the gentleman told me, " but I drive at a safe speed". I replied, "sir there is no safe speed for your rig".

I betch he was confident that as soon as he hits the brakes the front end will drop and he'd regain total control..........

LOL!

Good story Brian, Thanks.
