Colorado Towing Laws?

Went to CO to visit my parents in June. Traveling on I-70, I got to UT and CO stateline and there was a sign that said "All Vehicles with Trailers Must Stop." I know that if I am towing horses, I have to stop, but have never had to stop with a simple TT before. I just blew past the checkpoint and Smokey did not come after me, but a CO resident or if a CO Smokey could reply with info on if I should have stopped or not.

Re: Colorado Towing Laws?

Weigh stations in Colo are for Commercial vehicles and livestock only. Keep the cruise on and roll right by.

Re: Colorado Towing Laws?

As a general rule ALL recreational vehicles are exempt from scales. UNLESS you are in business for delivering them.

Then you would have a DOT number on your truck and have to stop.

Re: Colorado Towing Laws?

Thats what I thought, and that's why I kept going. The way the sign was worded though caught my attention. I love CO and am looking forward to making the trip again. THanks for the info.
