Re: Custom F-450 and F-550's with factory bed

I don't know what you guys are worried about. I put my CC DRW LWB 2x4 in the union street parking garage in San Francisco at least once a month. VERY tight fit but definitely doable. Never met a drive through or a parking lot or garage that I couldn't tackle as long as the over head clearance is high enough. and you should see some of the places I put the six horse.

And for some reason I think a friends 01 450 cc lwb drw rollalong conversion will out turn my 00.

Re: Custom F-450 and F-550's with factory bed

I've had my F450 w/Manning bed for about a year now. I notice a big difference in the braking and in the 4.33 rear end compared to my F350 w/4.10 rear end. I don't notice the ride to be much harsher but it is firmer. I liked the bench seat in my 350 better than the buckets in the 450. It is a higher step up to get in the cab, same as a 350 4x4 I think. I did have to 'flip my axles' on the 5th wheel to get level. Fuel mileage is not as good as the 350 w/7.3 but only slightly less. ( I had the 91 IDI). I don't notice much difference in parking, very few places I can't get it into. Stopping the 5th wheel is great with the 450. All in all, I would do it again.

Yeah, I don't think Fontaine still makes the Classic Traveler that was in my post 4 years ago. The 2008-up Ford factory pickups have put some of those conversion outfits out of business.
