I am getting some new Trailer tires. The size I am running now Bias 700 x 15's on my horse trailer. I looked around after blowing out 4 Carlisle tires in 1 year for some new tires. Ran across some Denman 10 ply Radials. Bias is normally 8 ply. They are about $20 a tire more than Bias trailer tires and I was wanting to know if it is worth it.
What do you guys think. 10 ply radials with a ST rating or 8 ply bias?
Thanks,
Headhunter

I can't comment on the Denman tires, but I can comment on running 10 ply radials. I run 245/75R16s on my tandem axle car hauler. I've put probably somewhere around 10,000 loaded miles on them with zero problems. They are a mixed set, Goodyear Wrangler RTSs on the brake axle and Dean HTs on the other axle.
In March, I ordered 4 new Carlisle 10 Ply Radials for my 5th Wheel. I didn't like the Chinese tires that came on it. The dealer knew I didn't want Chinese tires when he ordered the Carlisle tires. When they came in..."Made in China". The dealer returned them and ordered 4 Denman 10 ply ST radial tires for me. "Made in Mexico". So I put them on. I'm in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory now. I've put about 5,000 miles towing on them and no complaints. I'm going to rotate them on the axles in Anchorage before starting home just a a precautionary measure.

After getting the run around on Cooper trailer tires, I found a dealer that recommended Denman. I have not purchased them yet, so I appreciate the feedback as much as Headhunter does

Does anyone know why Cooper makes it so hard to buy their trailer tires?
I have the Coopers on my trailer (ST205/75-15) and they are an obviously stout and solid tire (U.S. made too!). I love them! I have put well over 6k miles on them in the last year since replacing my China-Carlisles and they tow well and have given me ZERO problems.
Back to the topic, I have heard several people having trouble getting the Cooper trailer tires, including from the Cooper dealers. I have a friend who manages a Les Schwab store and it is a coin toss whether Cooper is cooperative with him or gives him grief...
With a great product to sell, you'd think they would put some effort into making them available to the buying public!
My $0.02...
God Bless,
TC

How much are they asking for the Denmans? I'm in the same situation, my bias ply's are shot, and would rather have radials. I used to use Toyo or Yokohama 7.00-15 recaps, which worked great, but they're getting hard to find and $$$$. New ones are right at $100, which beats the heck out of $80 for any of the ST's I've ever used, but it still seems like plenty.
The best solution I've found to the trailer tire dilemma is, if possible, raise your fenders and run 235-85-16 LT's.
My experience with Denman is not too good. Put a set on one year ago, 30 ft 5th wheel. At about 3000 miles the sidewall separated on one. Luckily I saw it as I pulled into a campground. Could have been a one of a kind failure but after having trouble with Carlyle (sp) and now Denman, I took no chances, replaced them all. Went with LTs, We'll see.
By the way, I check the pressure regularly.
