Downsizing from a 28' tag looking for some input.

Hey Guys....

Looks like I'm going to be downsizing my enclosed race trailer from a 28' to an 18' or maybe 16'. Any of you running a 16 or 18 and hauling a car still? I know the truck will obviously handle it no problem, I'm just not sure if a 16' is still practical.... I'm thiunking it'll be a little too short or pull poor when loaded down. Anyone got any real life experience with this at all? I don't haul often anymore or race which is why I'm downsizing, but I'd still like the ability to somewhat if the need comes up here or there.

We haul an 18', but only karts, not cars. We're looking for a 24-28' though, so if you get rid of your other one, I'd be interested in it. My F250 6.0 pulls that 18' like a bat-out-of-hell. You don't even notice it.

Your car must be fairly small. I know my race car (86 Buick Regal) is 18' bumper to bumper so it wouldn't fit in an 18' trailer.
A 16' might be good for cycles, etc. but not sure what kind of car would fit it.
I sure like my 24'. Nice size for the car and a few extra things to take along, and it's handy for carrying other stuff (moving).

Re: Downsizing from a 28' tag looking for some input.

I would think a 16' is entirely too small, and an 18' would be questionable. The biggest issue I can think of is overhead height. You will have to pay to have that trailer custom build and that price diff might be a deal killer.

Re: Downsizing from a 28' tag looking for some input.

Yeah, I thought 18 might be tight too. Not hauling a race car, just want to have it around in case I buy something out of state or something. Trips to bike week, etc. Thanks for the input guys, all good information.
