Looking at getting a fith wheel toy hauler. I have not yet decided which brand. Looking at KZ & Raptor. I know that dual axles work fine depending on the lenght & load weight. However I also know that triple axles will track even better and be more stable. What about that third axle in a tight turn, does it drag and cause more wear on that set of tire? Most of my driving will be on highway and the rig will be used as a mobile showroom (garage part) for the apparel and footwear lines I represent to retailers. It will also be used for camping and hunting.

I went from a double axle to a triple axle trailer but I was more after getting the additional weight rating that the third axle gave me then concerned about the additional scrubbing of tires that would occur.
I think on trailers, more tires wear out from old age then wear our from going bald.
Do you need the room in the toyhauler that a triple axle will allow you?
I like my KZ 33P. I have a 99.5 F-350 and an 06 F-350 that are both rated for more weight than your F-250. I am not the weight cop, but I don't think you will be happy with your 250 and the pin weight of the Raptor, and you WILL be overweight. The KZ has less pin weight, over 900# less I think. When I picked up the KZ, I used a friends 99 F-250 4x2 to get it home. Even with no water or anything in the 5er, the truck felt smashed without overload springs, some thing else to think about.
HOW Much stock are you going to carry? In that back section? If you have quite a bit of weight I would go with the triple. Unless you spend most of your time doing figure eights in parking lots, the wear will be negligable I imagine!!!

Savage
good catch on the dually tandems.
I just don't know if you'll find a 5'r with dually tandems under $60k. Is it an option that only the Alfa (and related) manufacturers can sell?

Duall tandems would have a HUGE load capability. Many of your HOTSHOT flat goosenecks have that. Never seen an RV with it..unless it was one of those HUGE "TOY haulers" Dont know.

Three axle or two with dual wheels. depends on the weight of the trailer. moving the 3 7000 axles forward will lighten the pin weight. 2 10000 duals will give you less wieght cap. If you were traveling in a state that they charge by the axle on toll roads then I would say 2 but dont think there are many toll roads in Utah I would say 3 7000
would meet your needs better than 2 10000.
