Dual brake controllers??

I have a 30' Damon 5er. I now have a good strong hitch on the back and am legally allowed here in Ontario to double tow. I plan on using a small 12' dual axle enclosed trailer to put my Harleys in. Question, should I have a separate brake controller for this added trailer. Would a surge style tongue be a better bet. I don't really want to ever have them set stronger than the big trailer and be working on the hitch all the time when stopping.

Looking for any good ideas or opinions,

Thanks

Re: Dual brake controllers??

Yes. The brake load will be different on the bike trailer from the 5er.

Re: Dual brake controllers??

Plus I would think a second controller would allow you to apply light brake pressure on the rear trailer to keep it in line if it started swaying a little bit, without affecting the larger trailer.

Re: Dual brake controllers??

I would go with two controllers as then you can set each for the different trailer weights and braking capacity. Just make sure that the rear trailer brakes don't lock up without knowing.
