i have decided upon the need to sometime get a small backhoe and trailer now i need to know if anyone has had one of those dump bed kits? i am looking into one of those kits for like a 1000$ that will convert the stock bed into a dump. i will only need to haul a little at a time under 2 ton so since many are rated at 2 ton i should be fine but ive only seen a few. how well do they work? anything better for the same price? will that lower the amount the bed can haul without the use of the dump? any help would be nice thank you

That was discussed here a year or two ago. General opinion was the stock pickup box with a hoist is not strong enough to haul & dump heavier loads. You'll tear it up eventually. If Your going to install a hoist have someone install a small dump body or flatbed with sides on Your truck, hopefully it's a dually.
For comparison, the sheetmetal floor in a OEM pickup box is at most 1/16" thk. Flatbeds normally have 1-1/2" to 2" thk wood floors & dump bodies normally have 3/16" thk steel floors. The flatbeds & dump bodies also have steel rails running from front-to-back to support the floor when it's raised. The OEM pickup box only has supports side-to-side about every 1-1/2 to two feet.

if u want to keep the oem bed, only reasonable way to keep it is to install the dump beds that fit inside the pickup bed. they are heavier steel but gonna be more than a $grand. if not a dually, look at Railer beds. good luck
