Eaz-Lift 5th Wheel

Anyone know where I can buy a used Eaz-Lift 5th Wheel 15,000 hitch?

Or even just the yoke (that sits in the bed rails). Eaz-Lift stopped making them about 5 years ago!

When I was down to Daytona back last month mine broke. Actually, what happened, someone cut me off, I hammered on the binders, split a brake line and broke a weld at the same time (I figure) on the brace that runs horizontal on my yoke. Anyway, the other welds on the brace got weak shortly afterwards and let the yoke lean to one side. Luckily for me, I had it re-welded on the fly, but it's not 100% true now.

To switch over to a Reese or what have you, I'd have to move my bed rails in about 1/2"! I really don't feel like getting under the truck and doing a hatchet job to the existing work!!!

Another option would be to use a combination gooseneck/fifth wheel, anyone use this combination and what do you think of it???

There's also a new type of 5th wheel hitch, that the rails attach to the trauck fram under the bed, anyone familiar with these and what do you think.

Thanks,

Re: Eaz-Lift 5th Wheel

Well, it's been almost 2 weeks since I went looking high and low for a hitch, even advertised on Ebay: Want It Now with no bites. I had even located the original manufacturer factory that built it up here, they had discontinued this hitch about 5 years ago, with the hopes that they may still have leftover stock around, with no luck?

I was about to give up, went to my RV dealer and got a price of 1400 Cdn. to take out the old bed rails and replace with a 24,000 hitch.

Anyway, told the guy I'd have to think about it and on the drive home, I stopped at this little place I had seen on the drive up, went in, and to make a long story short, they had one sitting out back in an old rack of parts! I asked the guy, what he'd take for it, he said, "how's 50 bucks sound", I felt like I hit the jackpot!

Now that I know the weak spots on these, I'm going to get this one re-enforced (braced) before I put it in, bet ya, it'll be good for 30,000 buy the time I get thru with it.
