Electric over Hydraulic Brakes

I have a 2005 F 350 with the Factory Brake Controller and a trailer with electric over hydraulic brakes and need to change out the factory system that is not compatible with the the electric over hydraulic system on the trailer. What needs to be done and how simple is it to do?

Re: Electric over Hydraulic Brakes

Have you checked with the vendor of your hydraulic actuator to see if the Tow Command is incompatible first?

Re: Electric over Hydraulic Brakes

It is a Gooseneck brand trailer with a Carlile brake setup. Manufactor says to put a Carlile HBA CAM on the trailer that changes the digital signal coming from truck controller to an analog signal that the trailer utilizes. Dealer says put an aftermarket brake controller on truck and disconnect the factory controller.

Re: Electric over Hydraulic Brakes

Somebody makes a unit that fixes this. A friend has a horse trailer with a carlisle pump and his ITBC 2006 F350 tows it and it has NICE brakes. The trailer dealer installed the adapter unit and I have not seen what or where they put it.

Re: Electric over Hydraulic Brakes

I am going to try this.

I was hoping someone else may have used it.
