Electric Tow Mirrors Inoperable - Sort of

I did a search for info on this and came up empty.

My 2002 f350 has the stock electrically adjustable tow mirrors.

Yesterday went to adjust them and they will only adjust one way. The driver's side mirror will only adjust to the left (or away from the body of the truck) and the passenger side will only adjust to the right (again in the direction away from the body).

Any ideas?

Thanks

PS: Moderator please repost if there is a better forum for this topic. Thx

Probably the adjusting switch is bad. Had a similar problem on a 2000 F150. Replaced the switch and it corrected the problem.

Here's a similar thread on the subject...

Keep in mind that the switch has no electronics in it. It's just metal contacts being moved from one place to the other by a joy stick.

Same with mine, I thought it may have been the water at the car wash because they wouldn't work afterward but then they started workin again. I don't know, they have a mind of their own, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.

Mine just started acting up and the problem is in the switch, in order to move the passenger side mirror in or out I have to push down on the switch housing while I am moving the lever.

Thanks to all. It was in fact the switch. Popped it out, wiped it off, good to go.

Glad it worked out. I should have mentioned that I coated my switch's contacts with silicone grease to lubricate and keep the contacts from oxydizing in the future.
