F250 SD Load Levelers & Tranny Cooler

The F250 comes standard with a "tow package" but I cannot find what the tow package contains. Can anyone tell me if the tow package includes "load leveler" air shocks and a tranny cooler?

No.

Yes, sorta. There is a very good cooler on the TorqShift trans. There is no additional cooler for the trailer tow package, and that's because it isn't needed.

Casey - thanks for the cooler info.

On the load leveler shocks, is you answer "no" you don't know? Or no the tow package does not include them?

Re: F250 SD Load Levelers

That's why you need a weight distributing hitch.

Thanks. Then I have a towing/tongue weight question:

Have had Expeditions for a long time and they always had a rear "load leveler" shock option. Since on an F250 SD, load leveler's or anything similar is not included in the tow package, nor are they available as an option, are they needed? I can understand not needing them if you are towing something light, but what if you are towing something that weighs 14000 lbs, with 1400 - 2000 lbs tongue weight?

Get Air bags. They worked wonders for me.

Re: F250 SD Load Levelers & Tranny Cooler

I think the F-250 "standard" tow package is a 5k reciever w/ wiring & an adapter for a break controller.

The integrated brake controller is available after 05 as an extra option. (I'm not sure whether its a dealer add or factory order).

The "tow boss" package is special & I'm not sure its available w/ a 250. I think its only available w the 350 & has 4.33 gears & a integrated controller.

I'd say on the F-250, you probablly don't need air bags, unless you plan on under trucking & overloading.

Re: F250 SD Load Levelers & Tranny Cooler

Retired guy - you're correct to the best of my knowledge.

Am going to upgrade to the 12,500K receiver. Won't need the brake controller as the boat trailer I will pull has hydraulically actuated brakes. However - Tow Boss, maybe the same as "Tow Command?" - is available on the F250 and I am opting for it even tho I won't need it for this boat trailer

My main concern is that I don't want to get this truck and put 1200 - 1500 lbs of tongue weight on the ball, and THEN find out I need load levelers, air shocks or the equivalent.

Re: F250 SD Load Levelers & Tranny Cooler

Tow Boss is an increased GCVWR package only available on the F350 dually with the 6.0L and TorqShift automatic. Tow Command is a couple different towing things packaged together. I think it is the automatic, tow mirrors, and brake controller.

If you don't want the brake controller you can order the auto and tow mirros separately.

Re: F250 SD Load Levelers & Tranny Cooler

TowBoss is the 4.33 rear-end and integrated TowCommand controller. Available as on option on the 350 DRW.
