Finaly pulled some decent weight with the old IDI!

well, shortly after putting a turbo on my truck, the flywheel started to give up. After saving my pennies, I finally ordered a single mass kit, and got it in last week, just in time to make a 600 mile round trip to go wheeling. The trailer I was pulling was a 48 foot, 3 car wedge. Loaded on it was a F-250, on 38's, and my F-150 on 40's. So it was dragging wind.... bad....
Overall weight was 26,060lbs, with 1/2 tank of fuel.

Despite the incredible wind drag, and all the weight, I couldn't believe how well the truck pulled, with a turbo, and good clutch/flywheel. Most decent hills only required me to go down to 4rth gear, and on the flats it had no issues running 60mph in 5th gear. Boost was 12psi on the big hills, and the pyro never went over 1200 degrees. Mileage however, was rather poor, at around 8..

Overall, I must say, I'm extremely pleased at how well the old IDI pulls with a few mods, and even how well the ol' truck handled it as well.

I had a '94 F-350 SC dually with a IDI 7.3 and the factory ATS turbo. It was a totally different truck compared to the 7.3 IDI without a turbo. The turbo really woke up the engine. Much more power. Pulling the same trailer/load, I could hardly maintain 55mph with my '89 F-350 7.3 IDI. With the Turbo 7.3 I could hold 70 mph.

I really like my 89, but I am disappointed in how it runs, I replaced the injectors but I feel it needs a fuel pump, how much was the turbo?
