Firestone air bags

I thinking of getting some air bags and would like to here some feed back on the 2330 kit and the 2070 kit.

Re: Firestone air bags

I am not familiar with the numbers you gave but I bought the Firestone air bags for the rear along with the pump kit so that I can adjust the air pressure from within the cab.
I purchased mine in 1999 and installed them on my old '87 F250 Light Duty which needed them badly.
I then moved them to my 2000 SD a year later.
They have worked very well for me and are still going strong.

Re: Firestone air bags

If you're planning on running a 5er, it's an easy choice for the 2330.

Now, even though I have a 5th wheel, I added the 2071's by welding the air bag bracket to the 5th wheel base plate.

Either kit will get your ride back where it needs to be. Check out TruckSpring for more info & installation instructions.

Re: Firestone air bags

I have a set of AIR LIFT bags for sale 175.00 shipped. They are nice and will fit your truck. I ordered a dually and they won't fit the new truck.

Re: Firestone air bags

I was wanting to buy a B&W hitch but dont want to drill for the air bags. I might make my own hitch out of 6x6x1/2 angle and a piece of 6'' channel. I would bolt the hitch on using 3 factory holes on each side and then weld the air bag brackets to the angle iron side plates.

Re: Firestone air bags

According to Fyrman, there is no problem with the B&W hitch and the Firestone Ride Rites 2330s which mount inboard of the frame. No drilling of the frame required. However they will not work if you have an aftermarket 4" exhaust without some serious compression of the exhaust with a calibrated 3# hammer. I chose to drill myself as I did not want to defeat the purpose of the exhaust.

Re: Firestone air bags

Thats the same thing I dont want either. I just dont want to drill into the frame. I could make my own hitch and weld the upper bracket from the 2071 kit to my new side bracket which I plan on bolting on using three factory holes

Re: Firestone air bags

I guess I could buy a B&W and just weld the air bag bracket to the B&W. Has anyone done this????

Re: Firestone air bags

muckraker welded on his. Turned out pretty nice.

If you have the bigger exhaust, go with the drill kit. It will work, without welding, with little modification. I've done it. Lots. With the 1199 hitch. The 1198 hitch is designed with flat sideplates. The upper brackets for the airbags fit with no problems. The 1105 hitch replaces both of the before mentions hitches. It is designed after the 1198 so that the drill kit will fit, no problems. Just remember that when you go through the hitch, the bolts that come with the airbags are not long enough. You will need to pick up eight, grade 8, 3/8" bolts. Half inch longer than what comes with the bags.

If you have stock exhaust, go with the 2330 no-drill kit. Be aware that the no-drill kit number changed for '05. The bumpstop design changed between '04 and '05, so the upper bracket changed.

[/ QUOTE ]What about my post did you not understand. If you use the Firestone Ride Rite 2330 kit, you do not need to drill anything. Go here and look at the instructions.
