Ford Seven Way Trailer Connector

I have owned several 99 up Superduty's, and every time I tow my trailer, I alway's have an issue with the trailer brake's. I have no power in the plug, but if I back probe the rear I have power. I can unplug and replug the back half and it will work until the next time. Is anyone else having the same issue's? If it was just on one truck I could understand it, but all of em My son came in tonight with the same problem on his 02, help me before I remove em all and go to a 6 pin I should mention that all other light's function normally.

Not really sure what you mean by "I can unplug and replug the back half and it will work until the next time." Is it possible that the problem is in your trailer? Are you pulling one trailer with all these different trucks?

Re: Ford Seven Way Trailer Connector

Nick, the seven way plug has two halves, if you look behind the bracket there is a small white tab, pull it out and unplug the assembly. I have a gooseneck, 20' car hauler, a 32' Airstream, Utility trailer, it does'nt really matter what I pull, it doe's this I would say 75% of the time.

Re: Ford Seven Way Trailer Connector

my dodge used to do this and my ford sometimes does this. Look at the plug both on the truck and the trailers. Make sure there isn't any corrosion. Sometimes it just needs a little caressing.

Re: Ford Seven Way Trailer Connector

Have you tried any dielectric grease? Use it liberally.
