Front mount hitches

A post up in the 6.0 forum (got moved to HERE ) got me to thinking about using a front mount to park my trailer at home. They were talking about this Bodiak which is a bit more money than a couple of the others I saw, but it does look like an easy install.

Anyone have thoughts / comments on this (will the towhooks handle this)? The trailer is a 26' Prowler TT weighing #6.5k. I need to shove it up about a 9% sloped gravel drive, over a 6" curb. I'm getting pretty good at backing it in, but I think it would be easier if I could see the eaves of the house, before the wife yells "STOP!"

Thanks
Reid

Re: Front mount hitches

They work great. I did a post on this about 2-3 weeks ago. Search under my user name and read the posts.

Re: Front mount hitches

Thanks Pat. I remember reading it now. With he draw-tite, did you have to remove the tow hooks?

Re: Front mount hitches

I have a 97 that does not have tow hooks. I had to remove the bumper and reinstall it which was not that big of a deal. The four bolts that hold it to the frame are challenging to get to once the hitch was on but doable. If money is not an issue, I'd pay someone to do it. If you like to tackle your own projects, it's not too bad.

Re: Front mount hitches

Got one and used it everytime we went camping. Of course it's only a pop-up, but it's great being able to let the wife take kids in the house and put the thing anywhere you want! Did not have to remove tow hooks simple install and only had to have the wifey help with reinstall of bumper. You need to hold everything up there at the same time and slip the bolts in. If I remember right.
Bob Riley sells them at a pretty good price, sponsor of this web site.
