Fuse box 2000SD - trailer brakes

I have done a search here and I can't find my answer - hope you all can help.

I have moved my brake controller from my 93 to my 2000 and I can't get trailer brakes and I know the contoller works. I used the factory wiring harness with 5 wires and matched up the four I needed -or so I think - used everything but hte brown wire.

The wiring harness came with two square fuses (?) with four prongs each. The auxilary fuse box had all spaces filled but I noticed another smaller fuse box and plugged the two fuses into this box. I can't get any results. My problem is that I do not have the owners manual for this truck and I have not found one on line.

Which fuse(s) control the trailer brakes? Does anyone have a pdf of the fuse box positions?

Using a circuit tester I get possitive readings on the turn signals, running lights and brake lights but the Auxilary positions on the the 7 pin do not register and again - no brakes.

Any ideas?

Re: Fuse box 2000SD - trailer brakes

I can't help you directly as I have a 97, but the (otherwise ussless) owners manual shows where all the relays (4 prong thingies) go. If the truck did not come with the trailer tow package (some years/models) the relay was not installed. On mine it was in one of the electrical compartments in the engine compartment. If you still have the owners manual, take a look. Also, is there an Identifier sticker under the covers for the fuse block? Good luck and happy hunting...

The fuse for the controller will be in the cab. there will allso be a 30 amp in the outside box pluse a 30 amp for power to the plug and 2 small fuses for the turn brake lights, the two black four pins are for the trailer back up and power.
on the plug from the truck check the fifth wire one is for alumination and should only work with the headlights on. this wire is not used. do you have power to the controller if not check the fuse inside the cab.
