Going to be needing tires soon......

Im going to be needing new tires for my 96 f350 4x4 crew cab with an 8ft bed soon, it has 285/75/16's on it now.

It has negotiator radial A/T's I wish I could find them but i have no idea where to find them.

I want to get either D or E load range tires.

I have a few tires in mind that a am looking at if i cant find the negotiator radial a/t's.

The ones I like the most are the BFG A/T KO's with the E load rating.

I found a set of tires on ebay that had the same tread pattern as the BFG's but for $200 cheaper and there only a D range tire tho.

Also, I like the looks of the Nitto Terra Grappler click to see

What do you have on your trucks? How many miles do you have on them? how many hiway miles??

thanks

Re: Going to be needing tires soon......

I have 285/75/16 Nitto Terra Grappler E load. I only have 1,200 miles on them so far, but my truck has never road this good. You will defintley find excellent traction with them.

Re: Going to be needing tires soon......

I know this is apples to oranges but I have 35 x 17 Nitto Mud Grapplers Load Range E on my Jeep. The side wall on these tires is great! I have not cut one yet!! And my Jeep rides nice but they are a bit loud on the road. Love these tires!!

Re: Going to be needing tires soon......

I bought the F250 with 40K miles it had bald Good Year Wrangler 285/75/16's on it. Shortly there after put 295/75/16 BFG ATKO's on it for $860. At 120K miles I put a second set of 295/75/16 BFG ATKO's on it this time they were $810. I swapped the tires back and forth between the F250 and X and at 35K miles I had a blow out at 80mph in the X. At 55K miles another one had a side wall puncture after my wife hit the plow. The two originals were put out of commision at 70K miles. The truck now has Nitto Grap's 295/75/16 at a cost of $705. They don't spit rocks like the BFG's and have better traction. Actually they've been on the truck for a few months and it's stayed in two wheel drive since.

Bought the X with 104K miles with brand new Good Year Wranglers and couln't wait for the day they were to be replaced since they were stock size, don't think they got even 50K miles on them. Now the X wears a set of 265/75/16 Ravo E loads and there nice.

The F350 has 255/85/16 which is the largest that will fit and I can't wait to remove them in favor of 22.5's.

Re: Going to be needing tires soon......

I have Pirelli scorpion str 265/70r17 original tires with 96500 miles on them. I wanted to get 100,000 on them but ran over some screws and developed some air leaks. They have 6/32 left. I am buying the exact same tire again and hope to get another 96,500 on these also.

My Scorpions were gone at 52K. BFG Rugged Trails made 64K, Nitto's are wearing a little faster.

Re: Going to be needing tires soon......

My vote is for the BFG AT range E. I have had a set of D's on the truck til it hit 50k then when the range Es came out, went with a set of them. You can't beat them for all around driving, quiet on the road. The range E tire has worked out very well for towing the 5th.

Re: Going to be needing tires soon......

i forget what i have now but they have a good 30k on them with minimal wear

but id say get a good steering tire not a drive tire

most on here use drive tires (wider)
a steering tire is narrower usualy the side wall bulges out past the rim but tread is within the size of the rim

they also have 2 weight ratings for 2 pressures if you buy a good set
mine are rated at 45psi 2800 per tire and at 65 psi around 3500 per tire if i rember correct

they are almost 200 each though for my little known brand that idr what its name is
ive seen a psd with all four tires steering go through snow up to mid grill at 30 mph (like 6 blocks) no wheel spin
and then he broke through a snow bank 8ft tall with his truck
this snow had the newer (99) stock psd they used to plow stuck in place
