Wild, incredible. It's funny, if you see replays of Jamal, you'll see his helmet kick back when he hits the overdrive gear!
I see visions of BOB HAYES when he hits the NFL.
Bud Man5, I think your plans for hauling travel trailers is not a good idea. The business is very slow, rates suck, fuel prices are thru the roof, and climbing. There are so many contractors going broke with new trucks. It ain't pretty right now, fuel is about 45% or so of your gross revenue, anything over 35% raises a red flag. The most important thing is, don't believe the BS of any of the recruiters, they will paint a pretty picture. The bottom line, they are good liars, and their job is to sign you on. Keep in mind they are like used car salesmen, the worst case. One more thing, research your total start up equipment costs etc. The waters are shark infested.

Exactly there Highway, just filled up with diesel and hit an all time high $101.00!!!!!!!!!!...for a stock pick-up tank. And Customers complain about rate increases.
Sorry, a bit off topic here. We were just talking the other day and realized that had ‘Claytie’ Williams not made that remark to reporters around the campfire about RAPE, Ann Richards (Democrat) would not have won the race for Texas Governor. And with a Republican already in the Mansion in turn would not have setup W’s Republican bid the following term which would have eliminated his stepping stone to the White House.
One Joking Redneck remark changed the future of the world, and now who knows where diesel will go to from here. I guess we'll be parking our rigs. Thankya W
I have been talking to contractors at the lcal truck stop for about two years. I have yet to meet one that was not pretty happy with the job.
I'm fortunate in that I have already retired three times, my healthcare is part of military retirment, my house is paid for I can get buy with doing the minimum amount of miles.
I'm going to try for a year or so and see what happens. I love the truck and spending all day in it heading somewhere new ain't a bad idea.
I will try and post here in this forum about my pro and con experiences.

Nice place! We used to run big trucks out of Crystal Lake to TX/LA and for a change of pace we would take 71 cross lots to 51(now 39)/55 southbound...nothing but corn/beans and no traffic!

Happy? YES, money is good and it couldn't be better. Imagine waking up and feeling..."oh boy, I GET to go to work this morning!
I see oil hit $96 a barrel today and still climbing. Diesel here in northern Illinois is still at $3.25 at the local BP but I wouldn't expect that to last.
Chances are that things might pretty tough. On the other hand, I am living in the middle of corn/soybean country. Corn is running at $3.40 a bushel and soybean is all the way up to $9.00. If nothing else, I'll drive grain trucks to the elevators, barges on the river or to the two new ethanol refineries near my home.
In any event, I do have a kick ass truck now.
