Re: hauling another superduty cost

Probably your best bet would be to fly to PA, have the deaperperson meet you at the airport, then finalize the paperwork and drive the new truck home - I-80 almost all the way. Probably less than $1,000 for diesel and airfare, plus however much you choose to pay for motels.

Any trucker is going to charge you at least $1 per mile, or at least $1,700. And probably that cheap only if they are dead-heading back to the California vegetable patch anyway.

It would probably be cheaper to order a new 2007 from Cochise or Bobby and have them drop-ship it to a dealer near you. You should have it in 6 to 8 weeks.

Re: hauling another superduty cost

I do auto hauling, and "Hot shoting" for a business, I have my own authority and insurance. The other poster hit the nail pretty much on the head price wise.
I would have to get atleast 1.00 a mile, cause your truck would be all that would fit on my puney trailer right now! (32' gooseneck two car,, but with a larger one it only holds one,, or maybe a small geo with your truck!! LOL)
Fly out there and drive it back if it is in good shape,, that WOULD be your most economical way,,,(Maybe even have to purchase a round trip ticket,,they are cheaper than one way alot of the time)
Good luck,,

Re: hauling another superduty cost

Well, I imagine that would be cheaper by quite a bit. What ever you can fly out there for, plus 1700 miles at hopefully even 13mpg (worst case scenario, 75mph and crappy milage!) is 130 gal of fuel, at 3.00 gal would be around 400 in fuel,, depending on prices each tank,,,
If you drove it closer to 65mph and got maybe 17+ mpg that would be 100 gal of fuel, and save about 100 bucks!! (Best case scenario)
I am sure you have already crunched the numbers though,, good luck in what ever you do,, (If you want it hauled, let me know thru a PM and maybe we could work something out,, is it a CC 8' bed?)

Re: hauling another superduty cost

I bought my truck from a dealer in MN. I did a google search for auto haulers and got a bunch of free quotes. cheapest was $890.00, mapquest showes 1100 mi. For me it was only an extra $250.00 to ship(instead of fly/drive) and I am glad I did.the front wheel bearings would have seized in about 200 mi. or the ball joints would have fallen apart.

Re: hauling another superduty cost

I agree fly/inspect/drive. Always buy round trip ticket. (less questions and often cheaper??) Even on NEW cars/trucks the dealer will LIE to you. I (ordered) a car NEW from a dealer via web. I sent E-mails listing MANDITORY options. (as well as nice to have but not deal breakers) He located car and sent me e-mail that it had all (Manditory) options and some (nice) ones. We came to price but he would NOT scan the sticker/invoice. Lets just say two a more expensive (manditory) items were NOT on car.
He figured I would be 1400 miles from home/no way home/forced to buy or pay $$$$ more for what I wanted. Told him off and flew home after visiting relatives in area.

Re: hauling another superduty cost

Just to get an idea on cost - we had an '02 F350 CC 8' bed SRW hauled from Texas to Vermont for around $1500, arranged through the dealer we bought the truck from. The total trip distance was 1900 miles, so it was well under $1.00 per mile.
