Having hitch and 5er plug put in, anything to check on plug?

I am having my 5er hitch and plug put in the bed tomorrow.

What can I check to make sure they wire it up correctly?

I don't want to hook up to my trailer and have something freak out.

Thanks

Re: Having hitch and 5er plug put in, anything to check on plug?

Thats the only way I know how to check, just plug in and check everything out (parking lights, turn signals, brakes). If you are having a shop that does this kind of thing all the time, there is a very small chance that anything will be wrong.

Also, your sig. says "man does this thing tow", how do you know this if your hitch is not in yet?!?!?

When I wire something up myself, I use a test light to double check everything. To do this you need to know how the plug is suppose to be wired, which pin is what. Maybe you could do this with the one on the bumper first and compair to the new one.

If I were to start over, I would put the plug forward of the wheel well, where it is easier to reach.

I have towed off the receiver, not a 5er yet.

I planned on putting the plug closer to the tailgate.

Thanks for the input.

Install came out excellent.
Hitch is very clean looking.
Electrical plug looks good, nice splicing job.
I showed them where I wanted it, good thing to.....
