Hoist for back of truck

Am getting my lower back overhauled in March. Doc has placed a permanent lift restriction of 40 pounds on me. Problem - equalizer hitch head weighs 60 pounds and wife doesn't like to get greasy. Does anyone know of a hoist (I would say winch, but that would leave me open to funny comments) I could rig to back of my truck. Would be nice if I could use it to lift other stuff such as batteries and propane bottles. Would like to keep my ARE tonneau cover, if possible.

Re: Hoist for back of truck

I have one of Harbor Freight's winch/cranes mounted to the rear corner of my flat in such a way that I can remove it in a few minutes when I need it out of the way.

It is rated at 1000 pounds and is a real back saver.

With a little modification, one of these could be made to fit under your bed-cover by quick-disconnecting the top portion.

They are often on sale for about $100.
