Hope I didn't shoot myself in the foot...

Well, I ended up getting the Fabtech springs I talked about in another thread....but now I'm second guessing my decision. In a move to eliminate my stacked block set-up,...which I just recently learned was a dumb mistake I am going to try these out when I tow my toybox next month. I know aftermarket springs are by design softer, but does the general consensus seem to think I'll be OK towing 9500# with airbags? Are the aftermarket springs designed to accomodate that load? The X springs are soft, but does anyone know the rate or if they are single or dual rate springs? I spoke with Marty and he informed me that the 6-leaf Fabtechs are a bit stiff compared to other brands.

I have a bad habit of second guessing my choices and I certainly don't want to be unsafe either. Anyone who is lifted w/ aftermarket springs and tows around 9K, please chime in. It's already a touchy job towing due to the X's geometry and standard equipment and I really hope I don't make it worse.

TIA

Alin

Re: Hope I didn't shoot myself in the foot...

Actually from what I understand, aftermarket springs are stiffer than stock. So you should be fine. When I talked to the Donahoe rep he told me that stock springs are the best ride you can get, that's why their 4 1/2 inch and smaller lifts are so popular.
Not sure about Fabtech, but I would venture to guess that they will handle your 9k.
Hope this helps....
Good luck.

There is no "nice" way to arrest a potentially dangerous, combative suspect. The police are our bodyguards...our hired guns. We pay them to do the dirty work of protecting us; the things we're too afraid, to unskilled or too civilized to do ourselves. We expect them to keep the bad guys out of our businesses, our cars and houses and out of our face. We want them to "take care of the problem."
WE JUST DON'T WANT TO SEE HOW IT'S DONE.
