Do any of you that tow regularly have an exhaust brake on your 6.0? I noticed that PacBrake has one for the 6.0 but am not sure about how well it works with the 6.0 and if installing it will void my warranty. BUT I also know that an EB certainly would help with mountainous travels with the 5th wheel trailer.
Voided warranties are a thing of legend, and rarely happen. Pac Brake is an excellent system. Be careful towing, though. On a downhill, your exhaust brake will slow the truck, but the trailer brakes won't kick in, so you'll get a little push from the trailer, even a clunk depending on the quality and condition of your hitch.

I have a BD on my 03 Auto and it was a lot of work to instal and tune to make it work. IMO I would avoid it unless you have a slush box. Too much work and I don't feel they are worth the money..

With a 6.0L I would look into getting a custom performance tune with a stronger tow haul exhaust brake setting. On the original 03 6.0's the tow haul exhaust brake was so aggressive that it would slide the tires on a gravel road.
some engineer deemed that unsafe and de tuned it.
A good custom tune programmer can give you that functionality back.

I am a bit old school so termonology may have changed but when I was pulling wrenches "slush box" was an automatic transmission.

"Slush box" still means automatic where I come from. "Hand shaker" is a manual.
Pac brake works great on my 5.9L.

I have had a BD exhaust brake on my 7.3 for eight years. I would never be without one. The service brakes on the truck are less than 25% worn. I rarely use the service brakes when towing or, for that matter when not towing. My warranty was probably voided, but I never had the truck near a dealer, so who cares. My .02

I have the Bd exhaust brake and it works great. But I also have a "hand shaker". I was told by the installer that they do not work as well on egr motors. They also do not work as well on auto trans trucks. With that said it makes me feel much safer going down a long grade with the horse trailer in tow. It will maintain my speed or slow me down depending on grade, RPM's and load. It also works well unloaded. It can void your warranty. I did have my hpop go out on me a year ago and they covered it under warranty. But they said if I have a problem with my turbo or egr I would likely have to foot the bill. I have put 25k on her since the install and am happy with it. BD Power - Product: Exhaust Brakes

My truck is currently at a Ford dealer and I have contacted BD for assistance. I will post an update when I have one to the above thread. I have learned the BD brake if not used daily can be clogged by carbon. This is well documented in the BD brake manual. I had my brake installed in June of '01.
I towed close to 40,000 miles and most of those in Mountainous terrain. I would not be without an exhaust brake.

I learned and have personnal experiance that with Live tuning a custom tune can lock your TQ and close the veins in your Turbo and do the exact same thing less 1500.00 for the kit plus install..
I tested it with the BD kit on and turned it off and used the EB via custom tune and there was no difference only in sound. I ran up and down with my 5er' I 70 West of Denver and have never been thoroughly impressed and disapointed at the same time..
Anyone want a less than two month old BD EB kit..
