I need a 1600# weight disrtibuting hitch

I just picked up a used toy hauler. To my surprise when I weighed it there was 1600 pounds (rounded up) of tongue weight. I have a Putman XDR receiver hitch rated to carry 1600 # of tongue weight if using a weight distributing hitch and 17,000 # total. This has a 2 inch receiver tube. I can not find a weight distributing hitch rated for that much. Anyone have an idea on where I can find one?

Reese Tow-Beast.

I do not know of any 2" WD hitches, which I thought was weird when I saw the XDR rated to carry that much myself.

Was the TH empty? once loaded, the TW will usually be less.

It is full propane but empty everything else. fresh water and two ATV go behind the axels. one atv over the axel and all personal gear and one atv infront of the axel. Yes, it will hold 4 atvs, it is 37 feet long, you can park atvs all the way up-front to the kitchen. most of the time it will be two bike or two atv, but i know that time to time it will loaded with 4 units.

I found that pullrite hitch is good to 2000# tw, but I don't want to spend $3000 on a new hitch for my truck.

DrawTite Tow Beast has one rated for 17,000/1,700. Draw-Tite Tow Beast Weight Distribution Hitch (1,700 lb) 66006

With that heavy a tag trailer, you want about 10 to 11 percent hitch weight (before you connect the weight-distributing system). Never less than 10 percent. So weigh your wet and loaded trailer.

The best way is to go to a truckstop that has a CAT scale. Put the trailer on the scale with the trailer axles on one pad and the hitch on a seperate pad. Disconnect the tow vehicle and get it off the scale, then call the desk to get the weights. Then you will know trailer axle weight, hitch weight, and trailer gross weight. Do the math. If you have much more than 10 or 11 percent hitch weight, or if you have any less than 10 percent hitch weight, then you need to redistribute your load in the trailer.

I talked with someone at Putnam at the end of last year. I asked them the same question you are asking. Why have a Class V 2" hitch and then not provide a weight dist. setup for it. The guy told me that they were coming out with one in February/March. I'd try calling Putnam directly and see what is up. It may be available, just not too many people know about it yet. I believe he said it was going to be similar to the Equalizer hitch.

There is no need to be exact. Just get the 1400lb bars, add a stack of
washers, crank the bars to level to the frame, and go.

Found one. I emailed Putnam, they told me that draw tite has them. Draw-Tite has two, both with 1700# rating in a 2 inch reciever. One standard and one with duel cam sway controll.

Get the hitch with the dual cam sway control. You will be glad you did.
