Installing B&W Goosneck hitch tomorrow

OK i will be installing this tomorrow in the 05 dually , i have read the instructions and i can do this, those that have done this before can you varify the measurment of 46 inches from the edge of the bed and center as the correct pilot hole for the hole saw(longbed), they have two specs 1 for the shortbed and 1 for the long bed, i dont want to make the wrong choice. i have the long bed truck

Re: Installing B&W Goosneck hitch tomorrow

they give you 2 options on the longbed... 46 or 49 inches. 49 puts you closer to the cab of the truck on tight turns, but it helps put some weight on your steer axles. 46 keeps you from (possibly) having to flip up the tailgate before hooking up fully.

it just depends on what you want, and whether your trailer's overhang will allow you to back up fully with the tailgate down... i opted for the 49" location, as i wanted more weight distributed...

ps. get a good hole saw bit... mine took a dump halfway through, and i had to finish up with a sawzall...

I install these hitches at my part time (2nd) job and have been for about 10 years now. If you follow the directions you will have no trouble. I allways use the 49 inch measurement on long bed pickups to get more weight on the steer axel.

Re: Installing B&W Goosneck hitch tomorrow

I'm going to install a trailer plug in the side of the bed of my truck. I'm tired of letting the trailer wire drape over my tailgate and having to worry about it hanging up on something on tight turns.
