Jordan mark 4 brake controller-any good?

I've read that Jordan break controllers are supposed to be good. My truck had a Jordan mark 4 on it when I bought it. It seemed to work fine for my 3 horse trailer, When I hooked up to my 30' fw I couldn't really tell it was working. I couldn't even tell when pushing the panic button. I was just making a slow trial run around the block so I wasn't scared(yet). I know the trailer brakes work , at least they did when I pulled it to my house with my fathers truck(tekonsha voyager brake controller). I may have been adjusting the controller wrong, I'll try it again this week. I just didn't know if I should even mess with this controller or get a prodigy.

Re: Jordan mark 4 brake controller-any good?

Absolute junk. Nearly killed me. Get rid of it.

Yes, the NEW Jordan controller that uses a mechanical sensor cable on the brake pedal has gotten a lot of great reviews. But that has nothing to do with his earlier devices.

That Mark IV thing is dangerous. Mine has a big red squarish button on it that takes up the whole front of the unit. If that's the one you're taking about, get rid of it.

That "technology" is very very old. I currently run a Tekonsha Prodigy, and love it. I'd be willing to try a Brakesmart, or the integrated Ford controller if I didn't insist on manual trans trucks.

But I'd never buy a Jordan. Not after suffering that Mark IV.

IMO, HTH-

yep, that's the one I have. Big red button on the front. Looks like I'll be ordering a prodigy.

Thanks

Re: Jordan mark 4 brake controller-any good?

The Jordan Ultima 2020 controller has been a very solid performer. Not as good as the BrakeSmart but better than the rest. Search this forum and you will find many satisfied Jordan users. It sounds like the Mark IV may have been an older version of the controller. Call Jordan and see if he will update it for you.
