I have a 2000 Ford F250 SD, crew cab, short bed with a 4" ProComp lift and 35" tires. I am considering buying our first 5th wheel, a Heartland Cyclone 3795 toyhauler. I'm concerned about clearance between the bed rails and the 5th wheel deck (I believe that is what it's called).
Anyone have experience, comments, solutions to pass along?

The only way to find out is to hook up to a Cyclone, the weight police will be all over you on that trailer. Serious pin weight!
I tow a 28' 5th wheel and had to lift it up about 4" to get proper clearance. All trailers are different, you may not have to do anything.

I went to the 5er dealer and measured the height of the trailer. I had to raise mine 2" to get the 6" min clearance. (if I remember right my bed rails were 58") But like quadloco said. every trailer is differant. I also agree with him on the pin weight... That sure is alot of 5er for a F250 !!!
Good luck

Thanks for the comments. I measured my box rails and they are 59" high. The 5th wheel deck is also 59". I don't see how I could get 6-7" of clearance and not have the back of the 5th wheel dragging the ground. That sucks.

In almost every case lifted trucks are not 5th wheel friendly at all. Generally, to get enough clearance between the truck bed rails and the trailer, the trailer would have to be lifted an unreasonable ammount.

Check out the Weekend Warrior brand of trailers also. I beleive you can order them with a lift from the factory. I go to Glamis sand dunes every year and cannot believe the amount of lifted trucks pulling large toy haulers, big time toys out there.

I have a 6" lift on my F350 and have about 7 inches of clearance from my fifth wheel. It's a Weekend Warrior SL3005 with the axles flipped. I think it gives the trailer about 4 inches of lift.
I tow a 37ft Sierra 5er. The dealer flipped the axles for me before I picked it up. I have airbags on my truck, the trailer rides perfectly level and I havent had any problems at all with it.

I have a 7 inch lift (one in sig) with 37's and pull a 38' Rampage and I have about 8 inches of clearance. I just went with the max lift on the trailer, and that is flipped axels, 1 and a half inch lift and the bottom setting on the jake plate. After having the trailer for awhile I think i'm going to move to the top setting on the jake plate and lower the rig 2 inches. On my trailer I have about 2 inches of "extra" clearance under the overhang because of the way Skyline builds their unit.
