Longer WD bars?

My WD bars arent long enough for some of these FEMA trailers because of the placement of the gas bottles. THis is a common problem. Is there a company that makes longer WD bars that I could possibly use with my exsisting setup?

Re: Longer WD bars?

Dunno, I've yanked a bunch down there and don't use the bars. Don't seem to be an issue as they are balanced pretty good..........

Re: Longer WD bars?

With your truck being a dually you really don't need the bars on a FEMA trailer. Most of them only weigh between 4,500 and 6,500 pounds. I don't use my bars until trailer weight gets up to around 8,500 to 9,000 pounds. Actually, I have problems with the bars making the rear of my truck squirrely (how do ya spell that?) with a lighter trailer so I just don't use them unless I'm pulling a bigger trailer.

Re: Longer WD bars?

The Monaco's i hauled down there are in the neighborhood of 8K Part of the issue may be the route taken. I will under NO CIRCUMSTANCES go through Illinois to 55 as 55 will beat the piss out of you the truck and the trailer. I go 65 to 59 to 12 It is 42 miles longer but i make it there about 1 hour sooner than going down 55.............

Re: Longer WD bars?

My truck will pull the trailers with no problem, but the WD bars make for a safer and better ride. Im only pulling local runs, usually only 200 miles max but would rather use the bars if possible.

That's because you aren't using the right bars
They come in weight ratings and their stiffness varies according to their rating. They need to be matched to tongue weight to do it "right"
