I have a Ford 03 F-450 with leaf suspension. The cab sits at about 79 inches. I am looking to get that cab height to drop about 4 inches. I have a vacuum tank on the back and i need the drop to clean under ground parking areas. Does anyone know of any kits or ideas to get my cab height lower. Is putting low pro tires or smaller tires an option?, Taking out a leaf maybe? anyones info would be much appreciated, thanks in advanced!
what ever you choose to do make sure you are not reducing the weight carrying capacity of your truck. for that reason i would say removing springs is out, if removing leaves drops height it means the remaining springs are being flexed further and are probably going to break shortly.low pro tires before wasting $ check how much lower than stock they are, your height will be reduced by the difference in tire radius. a tire that is 3" smaller will only drop you 1.5". since you probably don't spend much of your time at highway speed it might not be so much of an issue but 3" diameter will have a major effect on speed and mileage. lowering kit might work but do you do any work where you need ground clearance. can you possibly leave truck outside and just use longer vac hose, thats what we did because our tandems never would be close to fitting
I think the main thing your going to have to mind is OIL pan clearence with the solid front axle.

I found a company that custom make leaf springs and suspension. I only need about 4". I told them what i need and their going to get back to me. If low pro tires gives me 1.5 inches, i still got about 2.5" to go. Running the hoese is another option. But some runs are a long way to a P2 level. I hope i can come up with a solution.

an air ride is the best way to go, but if price is a factor they might be kind of expensive. i would be curious myself how much air bags on all 4 corners would cost. you would be looking at a major suspension changeover
Actually i have called spring shops and so on. Basically most people tell me it cant be done because noone makes a air ride kit for that particular truck with leaf spring suspension. I know it can be done, i just gotta find someone with the right knowledge and guidance about this stuff. Thanks for eveyones help its much apprciated!
we just went through this with a new fire truck used for parkades..... kelderman has an air suspension package that they put on the truck, it drops it about 6".... the truck is an 08 f550psd.... hope this helps
