Had my first blowout on this trailer.Probably my fault.Tire was about 10 psi low before I left.I inflated it to 65 psi.I got about 700 miles before it blew.Tire's have 18K miles on them.I would like to upgrade them(225/75R15)to a larger tire(235/85R16)for the extra load capacity. Can someone recomend some different tire brand's and models.Thankyou
Trailer is a 28' enclosed auto hauler GW is 10K.
Make sure a 235/85/16 will fit as they are much larger in diameter. You may want to consider a 225/75/16 which will give you about 3000# capacity each tire and the same diameter you have now.

Who makes a trailer tire in that size?
I had this same problem with my old 24ft enclosed trailer. If you load her up to it's axle capacity the tires are at full capacity too. If I was loaded, hot out side and I was in a hurry I was gauranteed to blow a tire. I went through about 5 in 2 years.

I have the clearance. One of the options for the trailer was 12K axles with 235/85R16 tires. The local Goodyear dealer recomended an LT truck tire"Trailmark".Just considering all options. Thanks
All I can say is [from experiene on my end] is I hae had 3 blow outs in less than 50 miles due to heat.If I ran less than 65 mph I was ok but above that I would blow a tire and that was on a tri axle.I spec'ed my new trailer with 16's and they worked fine[wranglers]but cupped real bad.The set I have on now are a 14 ply 'G' rated tire. They are made in china [I know] but are working great I have 20k on them and just measred tread depth and from new only worn 2-3/32nd of an inch. They are made by BCT.I love them and they have more than enough load rating for the way I drive. The only problem is you need to make sure your wheels can take the load and the psi[tire inflates to 112psi max].STan

Truck tires. Firestone, Michelin, Goodyear, etc..... You can buy them in an E load range and they will last much longer than "trailer" tires.

Sure...if all you do is run up and down the Interstate. But I spend to much time in the city and the scrub from going around corners kills truck tires. Or at least it destroyed the one I had on as a spare a couple years ago.

All the heavy trailers we tow around the farm and on my friends farms 20K gooseneck etc... have 235/85/16 truck tires. If you start looking for a gooseneck deckover they all come with some type of truck tire in an E load rating. Tires aren't going to last on a trailer like they do a truck anyway. IMHO the best tire for a trailer is an E rated truck tire. Of course that's just my opinion.

Nightmoves, check out the recent thread on this forum about truck tires on trailers. The consensus: upgrade to 16" wheels with LT-rated truck tires. With that gross weight, you'll probably want the 'E' load rated ones (i.e., dual axle trailer, approx. 3k load rating on each of four tires, 12k gross weight max]. Hauling loaded, I'm surprised 15" ST 'trailer' tires lasted as long as yours did without a blowout! As others note, make sure the wheels/tires will fit your application. Many good makes of LT 15" tires - I love the Michelin LTX's on my truck, but have original equipment, much cheaper, Uniroyals on the horse trailer that are doing just fine ....

Thanks for the replys.
I was checking Eastern Marines website and they have LoadRite tires.
They have a 16" the same size as my 15",225/75R16 D.They hold 3000 lbs @65psi instead of 2560lbs for the 15".They also have a 235/85R16 "E" that is good for 3050lbs @ 90 psi.It is a 3" larger circumfrence but I have the clearance.31.4" over 28.6".
Again thanks for the input.
