is my truck too tall for a fifth wheel???

I HAVE A 2000 F350 WITH 8" LIFT AND 37" TIRES, WITH AFTERMARKET SKYJACKER SPRINGS (I KNOW I NEED AIR BAGS). ALSO HAVE: HYPERMAX CHIP W/ 5" EXHAUST W/ STOCK 3.73 GEARS; AND ALL GAUGES.

JUST BOUGHT A 40' FIFTH WHEEL KEYSTONE FUZION. IT ALREADY COMES WITH THE AXLE FLIPPED.

FIRST: IS THE TRUCK TOO TALL TO HAUL THIS? ANYONE HAULING ANYTHING SIMILAR?

SECOND: WILL THE TRUCK HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO PULL THIS? DO I NEED PROPANE? WHEN LOADED IT WEIGHS 16,500 LBS. WAS GOING TO USE A GOOSENECK HITCH

THIRD: TRANNY PROBLEMS ANYONE?

THANKS!

If you went with a flat bed you might be able to get the neck low enough?

Probably, without more mods to your truck.

As Mark suggested, you could replace the pickup bed with a flat bed and that should do the trick for clearance between the trailer overhang and the sides of the bed.

When you get the trailer hooked up, you want the floor of the trailer to be level, front to rear. If it's not level, then it's too dangerous to be towing on the highway. So get the trailer level and be safe. That might mean you have to modify the 5er hitch to get it short enough to result in the trailer being level front to rear, even with a flatbed body.

Re: is my truck too tall for a fifth wheel???

I'd have to say thats not a good truck / trailer combination.

The trailer is too heavy for the F-350, and the F-350 is too tall for the trailer.

And the truck will deffinitely benefit from a new trans cooler. That's going to be the weakest link on your truck.
