Need to raise the rear of the truck.

I bought my 2004 F250 used and it does not have the over load sping.
I put toy hauler on the hitch today and it sits to low even with the load leveler bars. Should I use the blocks that has been discussed here or put on the over load spring?

None of the above.

First, you need a "load-leveler" hitch with enough weight capacity to handle your tongue weight. It sounds like your hitch is too light for the job.

Next, you need an adjustable shank (hitch bar). You probably already have one. Turn it over so it has a "rise" instead of a "drop". Then bolt the ball mount to the shank in whatever position it needs to wind up with a level trailer after the load leveler bars are tightened to the proper load.

If your shank doesn't have enough rise to get the job done, then buy a new shank with more rise. Probably less than $100. Click here.

If your hitch weight is more than 1,200 pounds, then you probably don't have enough receiver. Be sure your receiver has a WD rating at least as much as your actual loaded hitch weight.

Re: Need to raise the rear of the truck.

Smokey, I have a drawtite load leveling hitch with #1000 bars. It is turned up to the highest setting on the shank. With the trailer level
the top of the hitch measures 23" My ball also sets 23" off the ground. I have the head tipped per the instrictions and the bars are parrell with the frame when loaded. The trailer sets 2" lower in the front. What am I missing?

It sounds like you need a new shank with a coupla inches more lift.

How much is your loaded trailer tongue weight?

Re: Need to raise the rear of the truck.

A set of Timbrens or Airbags should help. I have Timbrens and I had the same problem. Not any more.

Thank you.

Re: Need to raise the rear of the truck.

Thanks. I looked at them and looks like they will work for me. Are the a bolt on or do you have to drill holes?

Re: Need to raise the rear of the truck.

i love my rear air bags..i didn't want to sacrifice that battleship ride when i wasn't towing....pump 'em up for the trailer...let it out for stock ride...pump 'em up without trailer for changing lower fuel filter ... Re: Need to raise the rear of the truck.

After getting the hitch set up right, I recomend air bags as well. You can customize your ride to your liking, loaded and empty, with the timberens you can not.
I concidered the timberens as well, but after going with air bags there is no way I will concider timberens.

Good luck, happy camping.
