New ground required for Prodigy?

Just installed a Prodigy controller but have not pulled my trailer to tune it yet. I plugged in my trailer to the truck and set up the Prodigy to tow when I have more time. All of the readings are OK according to the manual. On the Tekonsha website there is a note that says for F-250 and 350 a new ground needs to be run if the factory ground is terminated on the fire wall. How would one know where the termination point is under the dash and is this necessary? My last Tekonsha controller (not a Prodigy) worked fine for 5 years. I got the Ford harness from Tekonsha that plugs into the factory connector. I have been told by other Ford owners they have had no problems with just using the factory harness. Any input would be appreciated. I have a 2001 F-250.

Re: New ground required for Prodigy?

I just connect mine to the Ford harness, plugged it in, and have been doing great for 2+ years.

Re: New ground required for Prodigy?

Should be just plug and play. Never seen any problems.
