I really need to carry a camera around with me. A target last weekend, I spotted a yellow F150 towing a fifth wheel I would not touch with my dually.
This appeared to be a 37 or so foot trailer. I estimate north of 15k lbs. It was a triple axle, and had several slideouts. I had a 34' gooseneck cargo trailer, and I KNOW this one was bigger. They were both nearly brand new, the truck was an 05. It was a CC half ton, with the short bed, and had to have been a slider hitch, or that never would have worked in a turn. The back end of his truck was about 6 inches lower than his front end.
It is amazing what people will do. If I ever meet this guy, I'll give him a piece of my mind, because this is incredibly irresponsible. I tried to get his license plate and call in a reckless driving compaint just because of what he was towing, but could nto get it and could nto figure out the police's number....
Then fifty miles further, I saw two passenger cars hooked up to trucks with a two bar, towing them down the highway. On looked like an intrepid, and the other was an aerostar. They were towing half ton trucks. I wonder how they stopped???

Friggin lemmings. You just gotta hope that when the stuff hits the fan they don't take anybody else with them. I like to call these guys in, I keep thinking that he is driving on the same roads as my wife, and that makes me madder than hell...

This one... has probably been posted here before, it's an old story, but I hadn't seen it for awhile, so I thought I'd share it and give everyone another chance to shake their head and say "some people..."
Sorry to all the loyal 7.3 guys, but I traded my '91 7.3 in on a 2002 F250 Ex cab V10 4x4. SCT Xcalibrator2 with tunes by Powerplay Performance. 285/75/16 Toyo M/T's. Took a long time to get used to the ping-pop of a cooling catalytic converter...LOL.

Well, I see everyone's point on the F150 as my wife and kids drive the same roads. I know the guy said it was squatting pretty bad which is not good, but if he had hydraulic trailer brakes he is probably safer than half the 3/4 and 1 tons pulling down the road. I'm not looking for a war or even condoning this guy, but with the right springs and brakes, an F150 is more than capable of towing some of the larger light-weight fifthwheels of today. If he had those newer hydraulic brakes on that trailer, he could outstop most of the trucks on the road with larger trucks and electric brakes. I see alot of the lightweight fifthwheels today that have triple axles, not so much for the trailer weight, but to take pin weight off the tow vehicle, like a wagon of sorts. It's all in the preparation. "The salesman said it would be OK" but really overloaded happens all the time too though.
