Next upgrade for towing Injectors, Fuel system or airdog??

I want to tow faster!!!!

OK for real I have not modified my truck in months and I am getting the bug.

I tow heavy 25,000lbs GCW. I do not race, truck weighs 11,400 empty and a 6 speed.

I am thinking of single shot injectors How big should I go and what kind of effect does the nozzle have. I am looking for a lesson on injectors, since I do not know much and the best options I know the singles will be louder, so what. I am looking for the best towing injectos and what will be the best to keep EGT in check. I will be contacting BEAN soon to get his opinion but I need yours also.

OR

ITP fuel system. This should help stock injectors but will also help new injectors I would think.

OR

AIRDOG What is you opinion of this system

I am not donald trumpp so money is limited but I do need to feed my addiction. what will give me the best bang for my buck.

I would say go for the HPOP upgrade. Afew have had good luck with increased towing power, and if its not enough then you still have xtra oil to run those biggg injectors you've been dreamin of

Re: Next upgrade for towing Injectors, Fuel system or airdog??

I am kinda in the same boat as you. Except I havent done an upgraded turbo yet. But, I was thinking after the turbo (which is next) I will do an upgraded fuel system, then injectors. I am not totally sold on the need for an AirDog. If money wasnt tight for me I would definitely do the Air Dog as well, but the way things are I have to decide on either or. After the fuel system I will definitely do injectors then big oil.

I would give Bean's a call and ask them about the injector thing.

Also, heres a "must read" FAQ's on Injectors from Swamps Helped me understand a little better.

Re: Next upgrade for towing Injectors, Fuel system or airdog??

I went with Diesel Innovations stage II split shots, and that seems to be about the right combination with the stock blower, big exhaust and a modified AIS. I get a tiny puff of smoke while I am waiting for the blower to spool up (floor it at lower revs), but it is dead clean after that. EGT is up about 50/100 deg from stock injectors and airbox when running hard.

Single shots are pretty intrusive to the engine management system, and requires an awful lot more than just changing the injectors. Stage IIs are a simple bolt-in.

I haven't put a pressure gauge on the HP circuit to see how it is handling the larger volume.

I am down a tiny bit on fuel mileage (because even using the same cruise setting - 65 mph - when I hit a hill it uses a lot more fuel because it holds a higer portion of the speed on the climb). Plus, of course, I get a little goofy with it when driving around empty.

I can't comment on the Air Dog, because mine is still in the box (truck not anywhere near my shop for quite a while).

At the moment, I think I have about the perfect combination of reasonable cost and good towing performance (and poor economy). Maybe I can Mr Tipton to bail me out of the latter some day.

I am not trying to build a race truck or a rice burner kille I want to tow at the best speed possible while keeping my engine together. EGT's are always a concern. I need the advice of those who tow a lot.
