Not enough voltage

My 2005 F250 came with the integrated brake controller. It tests ok at a stop per the Ford dealer 1.6 volts. However, I don't feel the voltage is increasing enough to stop my 34' 5th wheel. In a crunch with the gain set at 10, I feel the rear of my truck being pushed up in the air vs. the typical dragging back and down by the trailer. The manual slide is worthless. I was told that although I took delivery of my truck only a month ago, it was built prior to 3/23/05 (some magic date) when the new version of controller started being used. At this time, Ford will not warranty the conversion to the newer unit, but there must be a reason they changed. From what I've read, the manual control works with the newer version. We are leaving on a 1800 mile trip this week, and I am not comfortable with the conroller. Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone experienced similar concerns?

Re: Not enough voltage

Ford has a recall on your version of brake controll, the fix is a new master cylinder and a few other things , but they are fixing it.

Re: Not enough voltage

Do you know the recall number or is there a place to find it on the net because the dealer is not aware of it? I am only pushing this because I've been trying to get it fixed for almost a month between ruling out the trailer, talking with dealers etc.

Re: Not enough voltage

Call the ford hot line and tell them about the problem and they can get dealer to fix.
