I just got back from towing a 43 foot long Teton Homes fifth wheel to Casper, WY from Maryland and back. Ran the rig across the CAT scales, GCWR was 30,450. Fuel mileage while towing was from 6.8 in the mountains to 8.5-9.4 on the flats of Nebraska. Did not burn a drop of oil, no coolant loss, not one issue with the truck. The truck handled the big trailer great. Tow/haul worked as advertised, never overspeeded coming down 7% grades. Transmission shifted smoothly, never hunted for the right gear. Only issue I had was with the Continental tires trying to follow the worn roadway grooves on the worst roads. Seats were very comfortable, Audiophile/Sirius well worth the money. Truck road great even with over 6,000lbs on the pin. Reese Signature Series hitch worked very well, positive latch-up and no "chucking" issues. When I got home, I crawled under the truck, no wet bellhousing, no nothing, just a wonderful truck. Thanks Ford!

The only problem I have to say is, it is pretty bad when Ford has made a reputation for itself that when someone actually works one of their trucks that they are happy that after one long trip they can say no leaks under the truck. That is pretty sad for ford sake. I would hope after spending $50,000+ you can take that truck and pull one time with it and not have any leaks. I guess that is better than some people with the 6.0s that will go though a list of problems and then say that they still love their truck and that it is normal for all the things to go wrong within the first 50,000 miles or so.

Sad but true, and the reality of it. I am not going to brag about my '06 Dodge not skipping a beat. It's 15 months old and 21,000 miles. It SHOULDN'T have problems (and it doesn't just to clarify).

Absolutely. My wife used to have an Expedition that came with Conti tires and they were horrible. Any kind of crack in the road, or even just grooves would "steer" the vehicle.

I will only add that folks should be as receptive to problem posts by owners just as they are to "feel good" posts like this one. Both are ok by me and helpful.

If you had on 08 Dodge/Cummins you might think twice about your last post...

Interesting. Would this be from a rubber that is too soft? Perhaps tread that is too "high" or "deep" if you will?
I have always been a "Michelin Man" (but thankfully, I am not rotund like the "real" Michelin Man).
Are Continental Cheaper or something? Made in China? Etc Etc.

I would agree, when I bought my truck it had some cheap tires and it caught the cracks, got new Michelins and was noticeably better and still is with 25k on the tires.

So I should go ahead and sell my new Ford truck before it starts leaking all over the asphalt?
