Opinions on Brake Controllers

Looking to get some opinions on a good, reasonably priced electronic brake controller for my 2004 PSD. I will be pulling a 30' trailer, weighing between 8000-10000lbs. Thanks for the help guys, Jim

Re: Opinions on Brake Controllers

It depends on what you think reasonably priced is, but for under $100, its hard to beat the Tekonsha Prodigy.

I will second the BrakeSmart. Expensive, but well worth the money. Provides very accurate braking.

Re: Opinions on Brake Controllers

The Tekonsha Prodigy is an excellent electric brake contoller. It is simple to use because it is self leveling and it has a digital display which makes it perfect for multiple trailers. Just find the correct setting for each trailer and remember that number! It provides very smooth, reliable braking. Not overly pricey for what you get.

Re: Opinions on Brake Controllers

Brakesmart Here .
Do a Google search for "Tekonsha Prodigy" and you will have a lot of options.

The Brakesmart is way more expensive than the Prodigy, but it is the only controller I have ever been really comfortable with after a long list of inertia actuated brake controllers. Never jerks or pushes, just straight smooth stops no matter how hard I have to brake. To me, safety is worth a few extra dollars especially when $450 is a very small percent of the $60k wrapped up in truck and trailer. What is a life worth?
