Pulled W/ my F-450 22,000 lbs PICS

Pulled my Fifth wheel with my F-450 at 22,000 lbs it did not hesitate for a second. Every hill with no down shift unless I punched it and no shudder on take off. Everything was smooth and quiet unlike my F-350 that would start to make this nasty high pitch squeal on any good size hill. Anyway here are some pics.

If the trailer really does gross 22k when wet and loaded, then you probably need almost all of the 33k GCWR of the F-450 with the high capacity towing pkg.

Re: Pulled W/ my F-450 22,000 lbs PICS

That is the weight I will be hauling with our 450. Our Teton is listed at 22,000GVWR but I suspect it will be at that and maybe more. If only I could figure out how to post pictures I would. The 450 colors go welll with the stripes on the Experience.

Ditto from me, too! BTW is that a storage lot you're coming out of in one of the pics?

Re: Pulled W/ my F-450 22,000 lbs PICS

Your camper makes the 450 look like a 150. A big camper. If you lived in the south your camper would need 2-3 a/c's mounted on the roof. Today it got up to 98 and one unit just would not cut it.

Re: Pulled W/ my F-450 22,000 lbs PICS

God is that a nice set up!! The truck REALLY makes me jealous as it is, then you have to go and throw a toy hauler from heck on it too!! Man, I want one of those 450s SOOOOO bad, just aint got the jack right now, the ol 250PSD will have to do for awhile. I wanted to triple tow my Harley trailer behind my 30 fiver, but the southeast states where I work (NC,SC,Ga,Fl) dont allow it, so I have to leave the toy(s) at the house dammit. Someday a toy hauler with the big truck..........

Re: Pulled W/ my F-450 22,000 lbs PICS

What kind of fuel mileage did you get with that rig?

I just used my 2003 450 (7.3) for the first time to pull my 40ft race trailer, and got 9.8

Im excited because my old 550 got like 7!

I know a few guys with 08 250's that say they only get 8-9 empty!
(they are lifted, but still)

Re: Pulled W/ my F-450 22,000 lbs PICS

Wow, what a trailer. We have a 38 foot Keystone Raptor but it is about 8000 pounds lighter than your rig. With this type of weight, you are exceeding the 33,000 pound combined weight limit of your truck plus the fact you are probably bumping up against the towing capacity as well unless you have the high capacity package. Even with that, your capacity is only 24,000 pounds and given the fact you are fully loaded, you have no fudge factor. As a safety measure, you may want to have your rig weighed to determine how much weight you have over your rear axle. The one picture really shows your 450 squatting pretty good which translates to a lot of weight pushing down on your suspension and axle. I barely see any squat on my truck with my 5ver on it. Not trying to be a party pooper, but you have too much trailer even for the mighy F450 and even though it will pull it fine, you are most likely not legal and more than that you are most likely pushing the boundries of being safe as well which is even more of a priority for your passengers and those people driving around you. There have been many strings on this forum related to how much can you tow legally and safely and many might say you need to bump up to a larger truck like the Top Kick type trucks! Again, great looking trailer, just not enough truck.
